Exploring the grounds of Hogwarts castle and solving mysteries remains the general backdrop for both tales. They both do not shy away fromheavier topics, either. For example, the reality of death or the pursuit of cheating it, no matter the consequences. Hogwarts Legacy puts you in the driver’s seat. Can you shape the story through your choices or how you interact with its other characters? Read on and find out.

Do your dialogue choices matter in Hogwarts Legacy?

Occasionally, but not often. Some dialogue options seem to only add flavor to the story, allowing you to more fully realize your fantasy of being a kind-hearted soul or stunningly selfish creep. If you respond to NPCs in either a kind or a selfish manner, they’ll respond to you accordingly.

Your choices may also lightly affect further choices available to you. For example, one of the first true choices you have via dialogue is whether to tell Deputy Headmistress Weasley about your excursions into old ruins at the beginning of the story. If you conceal the truth from her, this will slightly change the dialogue options available when Fig confronts you about your discussion with the Deputy Headmistress.

Beyond that, there are some situations in which you can choose to be self-serving and be rewarded, such as when you return Cressidia’s diary in theFlying Off The Shelvesside quest. You’ll receive a new piece of gear if you give the diary back to her without a fuss. But, if you want to, you can also extort a finder’s fee of 300 Galleons from her if you threaten to reveal the secrets of it.

Should you tell the truth or lie in Hogwarts Legacy?

Ultimately, the choice is yours. Hogwarts Legacy will certainly allow you to behave less than socially acceptable inside the game. However, the consequences of those actions may change the narrative of your time at Hogwarts. The decision to risk those consequences belongs solely to you.
