A Gifted Rose is a Sumeru World questline where you must help an old man named Affan plant Golden Roses in the desert. This questline is time-gated byfive real-life days. You can skip days without ruining your progress, but can’t fast-forward time to initiate the next day’s quest in advance.
How to unlock A Gifted Rose quest chain in Genshin Impact
To unlock A Gifted Rose, you must first complete the two-day quest chain calledThe Exile. As soon as you’re done completing the questline (including giving Sabbah a Sumeru Rose), head to the area circled in the image below to find Affan. Speak with him to initiate the first quest, A Gifted Rose: Prickly as Thorns.
How to complete A Gifted Rose quest chain in Genshin Impact
Day 1 – A Gifted Rose: Prickly as Thorns
Speak with Affan to initiate the World Quest. He’ll express worry over his nursery, so you must check it for him. Follow the quest marker to his nursery north of Abdju Pit, near the Khaj-Nisut, andget rid of the Withering. You’ll receive aCommon Chestreward. Once you’re done, return to Affan to turn in the quest. After getting the reward,speak with Affan again.
Day 2 – A Gifted Rose: Long Day Ahead
Wait one real-life day or until the server reset, then return to Affan at his usual spot. After speaking with him and accepting the second World Quest, face the field in front of him andapply Hydroonto the petrified flowers. Once that’s done, speak to Affan to turn in the quest, then speak to himone more time(you’re able to choose any dialogue option) to complete the day’s objective.
Day 3 – A Gifted Rose: Can Stones Bloom
Wait one real-life day or until the server reset, then return to Affan at his usual spot. After speaking with him and accepting the third World Quest, you need to do the same as you did in the previous day—apply Hydroonto the petrified flowers. Then speak with Affan to complete the World Quest. Once that’s done, head to Aaru Village and speak withSabbah. SelectAbout Affanto complete the day’s objective.

Wait one real-life day or until the server reset, then return to Affan at his usual spot, but this time, he’s accompanied by Sabbah. After speaking with him and accepting the fourth World Quest, turn toward the field, where you’ll find three stone flowers. Use aclaymoreto attack the flowers until they break, thenapply Dendroonto them to initiate new growth. Speak to Affan to complete the World Quest, then speak to him asecond timeto complete the day’s objective.
Day 5 – A Gifted Rose: Some People Never Fade Away
Wait one real-life day or until the server reset, then return to Affan at his usual spot. After speaking with him,apply Dendroto the three seedlings on the field to make them bloom into Golden Roses. Speak with Affan again to complete the World Quest. This will begin a Hidden Exploration Objective where you must find Golden Rose Seeds and plant them in Affan’s nursery—the same one you liberated from the Withering.
