You will also need to use the D-pad to switch your game mode to a With Friends one.

Joining your friends in Splatoon 3 issimilar to invitingthem to your game. Instead of sending them an invite, click on the and choose to join their game. You will then be transported to their lobby until the match starts and you enter a game.
