You can choose between six characters at the start, much more than the initial roster of the first title. However, there are still somecharactersthat you can unlock and have to join your party.

Edge is found on the first planet,Beacon Beaches. To unlock Edge in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, you must progress through the world and reach theSunrise Temple. Before fighting the boss, Edge will rescue the Spark and join your party.
How to unlock Rabbid Rosalina in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Rabbid Rosalina is found on the second planet,Pristine Peaks. To unlock Rabbid Rosalina in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, you must first climb the mountain and reach thecastle. Inside, you will eventually battle Midnite, and Rabbid Rosalina will join the fight and your party at that time.
How to unlock Bowser in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Bowser is found on the third planet,Palette Prime. To unlock Bowser in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, you must journey through the planet and come face to face with the boss, Bedrock, in thetown plaza. Bowser is also there and will join forces to defeat this boss. After that, Bowser will be permanently available on your team.
