Mags have several functions that range from cosmetic alterations to efficient configurations that you may alter at your leisure:
Modifying Mag Forms
While playing Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, you’ll occasionally obtain Mag Forms from active Seasons. Mag Forms are account-binding items that allow you to alter how your Mag looks. To use a Mag Form, open the Mag menu and choose theAdd New Formoption. This is a permanent addition that you may change freely using theChange Mag Formoption in the Mag menu. You can also change the color of your Mag using theMag Color Settingsoption, but you must have aMag-specific Color Change ticketto do so. If you’re into the cosmetic side of the game, this is a great way to have your Mag match that new outfit you’ve just designed. You can also choose not to display your Mag from the Mag menu. Note that all of this ispurely cosmeticand provides no additional bonuses.

To enable your Mag to scan for these items, open theActive Sonar Target Settingsin the Mag menu, then select your desired categories. When active, your Mag will begin to scan the immediate area. It will emit a visible and audible pulse from its frame in the direction of one of your selected items if one is nearby. Follow it until you reach the item. We recommend only selecting a few categories at a time because there is no indication of which items your Mag is actively pulsing. It may become confusing to locate what you’re looking for otherwise.
Jukebox
Mags, additionally, has an onboard jukebox that will alter the game’s music. To use it, open the Mag menu and select “Music Settings” at the bottom. There, you may play music that you’ve already registered, add new music to the jukebox, or create a playlist using the music you already own. You’ll need music disks, found in-game, to use the jukebox. These can be obtained through the Personal Shop Market, AC/SG Scratch tickets, and the Treasure Shop. Note that music tracks from major in-game events, such as PSE Burst boss encounters, will override the jukebox. Once concluded, the jukebox will continue playing the last song as normal.
