Farigiraf is a brand new Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is an evolution of Girafarig and has a unique ability called Tail Armor that may shake up the competitive Pokémon scene’s meta.
TheNintendo of AmericaTwitter states, “Armor Tail: It makes opposing Pokémon unable to use priority moves.” This is huge, depending on if it affects both of your opponent’s Pokémon or just one. Being able to prevent priority moves, especially from opposing Pokémon, means your opponent cannot use many popular moves.

This includes Sucker Punch, Fake Out, Quick Attack, First Impression, and more. It would be interesting to see if Armor Tail also cancels out Protect and how it interacts with the Prankster ability. With Farigiraf’s Armor Tail, many other Pokémon could find a place in the competitive scene and allow you to abuse priority moves while your opponent cannot.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have yet to release but could have a big impact on the competitive Pokémon scene.Cyclizar’smove, Shed Tail, will also change how the meta is played, allowing a Pokémon to swap in for free. We can’t wait to see what other Pokémon come from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and how they can shake things up competitively.
