The Rabbids again join Mario on a new quest, this time of galactic importance. With this new quest and entry comes a new breed of Rabbids. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope transforms the Rabbids by making them more intelligent and charged with emotion.
In an officialblog post, Ubisoft breaks down the change to the Rabbids in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. What started with creating a unique Rabbid that is an original character led the rest of the Rabbid cast to gain dialogue in the form of a new language. This new Rabbid hero is namedEdge, and she expresses many of her emotions through her sword.

While the Rabbids still maintain their chaotic nature, they gain a sense of self in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Their personality comes through in their mannerisms and a hybrid language of gibberish and sentences. Each Rabbid also gains a new upgraded look in the sequel that showcases how they are separate characters and not just caricatures of Mario and his friends.
