Riven mods are incredibly unique mods with many mechanics that make them differ greatly from your typical mods. Here’s a breakdown of Riven mods and how to use them in Warframe.
What is a Riven Mod?
Riven mods come with randomly generated stats for a randomly selected weapon. Because of this, no two Riven mods are the same, even if they are for the sameweapon. Unlike normal mods, when you obtain one, it comes with aVeiledstatus attached to them, along with a unique challenge issued to you in the mod’s flavor text. Riven mod challenges can range from simplistic to downright annoying, but to even attempt it, the Veiled modmust be equipped with the weapon type specified in its text.Equipping a Veiled Riven mod will not take up mod capacity nor grant any negative or positive effects on your weapon. It cannot be upgraded and takes up its own Riven slot.
Completing the challenge identifies the Riven mod, revealing its exact stats and the weapon it is for. Equipping it in this state takes up mod capacity and provides the listed bonuses and negative effects.

Weapon Disposition
Although the stats are random when you unveil a Riven mod, they are also affected by a weapon’s disposition. Think of weapon disposition like quality ranks for Riven mod stats. There are five quality ranks for disposition:
A weapon’s disposition is decided by usage rate. If a weapon is extremely popular or new, its disposition is likely to be Faint, for example. Note that Dispositions can change every three months.
Cycling Riven Mods
If you aren’t a fan of the stats you received upon unveiling a Riven mod, you can reroll it using the Cycle function aboard your Orbiter. Cycling a Riven mod affects the mod’s number of attributes and overall stat spread. It doesnotalter the weapon designation, mod rank, or polarity. Because this does not affect weapon Disposition, the possible stat range also does not change.Cycling a mod costs Kuva, a resource obtained fromKuva Siphonmissions, and by completingBounties. Note that repeated cycling of a mod increases the Kuva cost of the process until it is capped at 3500 Kuva.

Transmuting four of the same Riven type will result in a Veiled Riven of the same weapon type. Something to keep in mind.
