Of course, they don’t have to be limited to the types assigned above. In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, each Pokémon has itsTera-type. If you can snag a Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly with a unique Tera type, they can change into where they transform mid-battle. Common Tera-typed staters, which usually reflect their species' type, are pretty good too. After all, Terastallizing will boost all their same-type attack bonus (STAB) moves.
Pokémon with rare Tera types have higher chances of spawning in Tera Raid battles, which operate similarly to Max Raid Battles in Sword and Shield. You can challenge Tera Pokémon with three other trainers for a chance to capture them after they have been defeated.
Aside from the Terastral Phenomenon, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is also the first mainline title to be a fullyopen world. Trainers can tackle gyms in any order they want and explore cities and towns in any order.
